We Got Married fue un show de TV coreano donde dos celebridades pretendían estar casadas. El show fue muy popular y creó una legión de seguidores que esperaban que las parejas se volvieran reales.
El show seguía un proceso de producción similar a la mayoría de los shows de TV coreanos. El show era filmado una vez cada dos semanas y contenía el material suficiente para dos episodios. Como todos los shows de radio y TV coreanos, el show usaba guión. Hace unos años atrás una supuesta copia del guión para la filmación de dos episodios de JoKwon y Gain fue filtrado.
El alegado guión establece la hora y lugar de filmación y las situaciones. El guión incluye un pequeño diálogo guía que da pie para desarrollar la situación pre-establecida de forma espontánea teniendo a los protagonistas produciendo el resto de los diálogos con sus propias palabras.
Otros shows coreanos suelen ser ensayados antes de la filmación final, pero las escenas en exteriores de We Got Married eran filmadas una sola vez.
En algunas ocasiones durante las filmaciones, los guionistas fueron vistos mostrándole carteles a las parejas sugeriéndoles cosas para hacer.
En el episodio especial del show "Come to Play" sobre "We Got Married" la pareja Kim Yong-jun ❤️ Hwang Jung-eum, quienes eran una pareja real antes de entrar al show, contaron que una escena fue filmada dos veces.
Luego de ser filmado el show era editado y subtitulado y una versión extendida era mostrada privadamente a un público para grabar sus reacciones. Después de esto una versión editada y más corta era la que finalmente era transmitida.
El show era deseado por agencias que manejan celebridades por la gran cantidad de minutos de screentime que ofrecía para los protagonistas. Otros shows, como por ejemplo, StarKing, tenía muchas celebridades invitadas como público y después de muchas extenuantes horas de filmación, las celebridades obtenían segundos de screentime sólo si hacían algo lo suficientemente impactante para salir al aire.
En febrero de 2010, para una entrevista para Donga, la PD Jung Yoon-jung habló sobre el detrás de cámaras del show.
La productora Jung Yoon-jung escogió el evento de cumpleaños para Kim Yong Joon donde su novia Hwang Jung Eum subió las escaleras hasta el apartamento de Kim Yong Joon en el piso 21 sujetando carteles con mensajes en cada piso mientras Kim Yong Joon subía a su apartamento por el elevador como su momento favorito. Ella dijo que debido a un error técnico debieron refilmar la escena:
"Todos empezaron a llorar. Empecé a llorar de nuevo en la sala de edición. Solo una pareja real podría haber logrado ese evento. Además, debido a un error de un miembro del personal, tuvimos que filmar esa escena dos veces. Así que, básicamente, Jung Eum corrió 42 pisos esa mañana. Nunca podré olvidar la cara de Yong Joon cuando comenzó a llorar en el quinto piso ".
Sobre el proceso de selección de parejas, la productora dijo:
"Después de sus entrevistas, emparejamos a los dos que comparten estilos y personalidades similares. A veces suceden cosas interesantes y divertidas durante este proceso. Después de entrevistar a Lee Sun Ho, creímos que se vería bien con Hwang Woo Seul Hye, así que los hicimos una pareja. Más tarde nos enteramos de que los dos ya se conocían y que habían sido emparejados previamente por sus amigos. Hubo una vez una pareja que dejó el programa el primer día de rodaje porque salió con uno de los miembros del personal. También hemos emparejado celebridades con una de sus tres estrellas ideales principales. Jo Kwon y Ga In estaban en la lista de las tres principales del otro, así que los emparejamos."
La productora Jung Yoon-jung compartió que la mayoría de las casas eran usadas únicamente para filmar, en muchas ocasiones tuvieron que mudarse porque los propietarios se lo pidieron. Hwanhee pidió filmar en su apartamento pero los vecinos se quejaron y tuvieron que filmar en otra parte.
Sobre los rumores de parejas no siendo cercanas fuera de cámara la PD dijo:
"Es imposible filmar 'WGM' si los miembros no se gustan. De hecho, hay muchos casos en los que ocurre exactamente lo contrario. Cuando las cámaras están apagadas, se toman de la mano con cautela o comparten una conversación en susurros. Cuando vienen los estilistas para arreglar a sus respectivas estrellas, irán a otra habitación o dejarán de hablar brevemente. Supongo que aquí es de donde vinieron los rumores. Durante el segmento de Hwan Bo y Kim Hyun Jung, estaban escalando el Monte Gi Lee y ambos estaban tan agotados física y mentalmente que estuvieron callados durante la mayor parte del viaje. La gente vio esto y malinterpretó la situación ".
Algunas anécdotas que la productora compartió:
"Jo Kwon fue definitivamente una sorpresa. Es un miembro ídolo sin experiencia en citas y nunca ha mostrado un lado varonil. Elegimos a Jo Kwon con la idea de mostrar una imagen diferente de él. En nuestra primera sesión, comenzó a mostrar los mismos bailes y actos que hizo en otros programas de variedades. Lo detuvimos y le pedimos: "No necesitamos eso. Por favor, concéntrate en mostrar al verdadero 'hombre' Jo Kwon". Cambió su actitud inmediatamente después de eso. Ahora lo está haciendo excepcionalmente bien, es más de lo que podemos pedir. Me hace sentir muy orgullosa "'.
"Creo que la misión de revelar sus cuentas bancarias fue una buena idea. Todo fue gracias a la honestidad de Jung Eum. Aunque la productora dice que noviazgos fuera del show era una regla del programa, hoy día sabemos que algunas celebridades
estaban saliendo con otras personas mientras filmaban el show.
También las llamadas telefónicas entre parejas estaban prohibidas. La idea detrás de esta regla es que las parejas expresaran sus verdaderos sentimientos y emociones ante la cámara durante las entrevistas individuales.

We Got Married was a Korean TV show where two celebrities pretended to be married. The show was hugely popular and created a legion of fans who hoped the couples would get real.
The show followed a production process similar to most Korean TV shows. The show was filmed once every two weeks and contained enough material for two episodes. Like all Korean TV and radio shows, the show used a script. A few years ago a supposed copy of the script for the filming of two JoKwon and Gain episodes was leaked.
The alleged script establishes the time and place of filming and the situations. The script includes a small guide dialogue that gives rise to develop the pre-established situation spontaneously, having the protagonists produce the rest of the dialogues in their own words.
The show was desired by agencies representing celebrities for the large amount of screentime minutes it offered for the protagonists. Other shows, such as StarKing, had many celebrities invited as audiences and after many grueling hours of filming, celebrities got seconds of screentime only if they did something shocking enough to go on the air.
Other Korean shows are usually rehearsed before the final filming, but the outdoor scenes for We Got Married were filmed only once.
On some occasions during the filming, the scriptwriters were seen showing couples boards suggesting things to do.
In the special episode of the show "Come to Play" about "We Got Married" the couple Kim Yong-jun ❤️ Hwang Jung-eum (a real couple before entering the show) told that a scene was filmed twice.
In February 2010, for an interview with Donga, PD Jung Yoon-jung talked about behind the scenes of the show.
Producer Jung Yoon-jung chose the birthday event for Kim Yong Joon where his girlfriend Hwang Jung Eum went up the stairs to Kim Yong Joon's apartment on the 21st floor holding message boards on each floor as Kim Yong Joon went up to his apartment on the elevator as her favorite moment. She said that due to a technical mistake they had to refilm the scene:
"Everyone started crying. I started crying again in the editing room. Only a real couple could have pulled off that event. Also, due to a mistake by a staff member, we had to film that scene twice. So, basically, Jung Eum ran 42 floors that morning. I'll never be able to forget Yong Joon's face when he started crying on the fifth floor. "
About the partner selection process, the producer said:
"After his interviews, we paired the two of them who share similar styles and personalities. Sometimes interesting and funny things happen during this process. After interviewing Lee Sun Ho, we thought he would look good with Hwang Woo Seul Hye, so the we made them a couple. We later found out that the two of them already knew each other and had been previously paired up by their friends. There was once a couple who left the show on the first day of filming because one of them dated one of the staff members. Also we've paired celebrities with one of their top three ideal stars. Jo Kwon and Ga In were on each other's top three list, so we matched them."
Producer Jung Yoon-jung shared that most of the houses were used solely for filming, on many occasions they had to move because the owners asked them to. Hwanhee asked to film in his apartment but the neighbors complained and had to film elsewhere.
On rumors of couples not being close off camera, the PD said:
"It's impossible to film 'WGM' if the members don't like each other. In fact, there are many cases where the exact opposite happens. When the cameras are off, they cautiously hold hands or share a conversation in whispers. stylists to fix their respective stars, they will go to another room or stop talking briefly. I guess this is where the rumors came from. During Hwan Bo and Kim Hyun Jung's segment, they were climbing Mount Gi Lee and they were both so physically and mentally exhausted who were quiet for most of the trip. People saw this and misinterpreted the situation."
Some anecdotes that the producer shared:
"Jo Kwon was definitely a surprise. He is an idol member with no dating experience and has never shown a manly side. We chose Jo Kwon with the idea of showing a different image of him. In our first session, he started showing the same dances. and acts he did on other variety shows. We stopped him and asked, "We don't need that. Please focus on showing the real 'man' Jo Kwon. "He changed his attitude immediately after that. Now he's doing exceptionally well, it's more than we can ask for. It makes me very proud."
"I think the mission to reveal his bank accounts was a good idea. It was all thanks to Jung Eum's honesty. Before filming, Jung Eum's mother offered to put some money in her bank account, but Jung Eum refused saying it was better to be honest. Her total savings were $4,870 and I remember Yong Joon jokingly saying, "I'll give you $130 so you can buy gum with it."
"Celebrities should always be careful with their images. However, in 'WGM', these same celebrities cry, laugh and show their true feelings. I think that's the true beauty of 'WGM'. Sometimes there are cases where (celebrity) companies interfere. During a session, someone will drag their entertainer and say, "You can't act like that. This is how you should act. "It is a way of image training. Of course, there are stars who have gained a lot of popularity through 'WGM' and are hungry for more. We understand this, but such actions do not fit well with our programs. We have had to call some agencies to stop such behavior. "
Although the producer says that dating outside the show was a rule, today we know that some celebrities were dating other people while filming the show.
Also telephone calls between couples were prohibited. The idea behind this rule is for couples to express their true feelings and emotions on camera during individual interviews.
